Title and Opening Sequence analysis of Snatch

Mise-en-scene-Setting: The opening sequence does not show a longshot of the setting of where the film is going to be as it is not one location the film is filmed in. However it does show blips of the different locations that are used in the film which generally give away the main setting for example by the scenes of the pool tables and pubs you can tell that the main setting is London. The van is also used as a location for the Russians to speak before the characters are introduced.

Mise-en-scene-Props: You can tell that the prop used in the opening sequence is very valuable as it seems that it was stolen. This is because you have the Russians in the back of the van with guns discussing how they are going to get the diamond to London and get it sold. You could ultimately tell that the diamond is going to be an important part of the movie in the opening sequence as it proved to be.

Mise-en-scene-Positioning of Character and objects: The positioning of character's and objects are in the opening sequence are very unique. The characters are introduced and presented equally and in the same type of billing. The positioning of the characters is fast paced due to the cross-cutting used in the opening sequence; the positioning of the characters also shows their type of personality as for example you have Georgeous George who is a boxer punching a punching bag in the opening sequence. The positioning of the object's which is the diamond and the gun are held and positioned to show how important they are to the characters and an example shown of this is when Frankie Four Fingers holds the diamond they zoom in on the diamond which starts off the introduction of characters.

Mise-en-scene-Lighting and Colour: The shot of the Russians talking in the van had a particular dark lighting and that gave the feeling of suspense and mischief especially when Frankie Four Fingers pulled out the diamond. However when the characters were being introduced in the credits in the opening sequence there were many colours used. You could also say that the type of colours used could match each character it might not be the case but it is a possibility.
