PLEMINARY TASK EVALUATION

Q1. At a micro, technical level, how well did you observe the conventions of continuity and the language of editing?

A1.Our scene involved  a meeting between a principle and a student opposite one another over a bullying incident. We demonstrated matching on action when the door opened .In the opening shot we demonstrated an establishing shot to show the scenery of the principle’s office then we switched to a low angle shot to show the anger in the students face. When the principle started walking in the room we then demonstrated a mid shot to create suspense and identify that the principle is walking in the room. When the principle sits down we then demonstrated 2 POV shots before putting in the 2 shot to show the epic confrontation between the student and the teacher. We then ended the scene with a panning shot to show the anger shown by the student at his punishment and him walking out of the office.

Q2. What were you pleased with? What seems to work well and why?

A1.I was pleased with the way the scene moved so smoothly even before we edited anything. The switches between the shots were so perfect and made everything flow nicely. Everything was organised and we picked the right shots at the right times which was the reason why the scene looked so good we also had a very good camera man who didn’t botch anything serious.

Q3. What mistakes did you make? What would you have done differently?

A3.The only mistake I say we made was when we switched from the point of view shot of the principle telling the student his punishment to the over the shoulder shot of the student reacting. If I could change it I would have gone with a point of view shot of the student reacting so it could make a bit more sense.

Q4. How did you manage the group dynamics, equipment and resources?

A4.We managed everything very well. The grouped clicked and had a chemistry; everyone worked hard and played their part well such as me and Jordan acting are roles brilliantly, Ramess being an excellent cameraman and Zach giving everyone helpful advice. Although we lacked one important piece of equipment needed we still dealt with the situation very well however we still had excellent resources as we had a bagged a brilliant location for a principles office an actual principle office.

Q5. What problems did you encounter logistically?
A5. The only problem we encountered logistically is that we didn’t have a tripod for the camera.
